The stories behind art, its creation, and the history of what drove it to prominence or periods of neglect have always fascinated me for most of my life. When recent events in my own life allowed me to retire from a long and rewarding career it became clear to me that now was the time to become a member thereby enabling me to use some of my new found time to delve into the fine details of art history, creative process, beauty and most importantly have fun doing these pursuits with other colleagues.

After receiving an invitation from a dear friend to see the recent Capucci exhibit, my interest skyrocketed off the chart. The exhibit was visually stunning to say the least. One could easily enjoy and learn about the technical aspects of the tailoring but other details began to emerge. Particularly intriguing to me was the relationship between the designer and nature, and his view that clothing could also be architecture. The incredible display of talent, creativity and genius were exquisitely showcased, along with a highly informative and enlightening audio tour.

Shortly after the Capucci exhibit visit, I became a member. A gateway to an entire new world opened; so many tours, facts to be assimilated, images to be savored and burned into my brain. New friends and friendly support staff made each successive visit better than the last. I am reminded of a scene in one of my favorite films, Like Water for Chocolate, in which one of the characters is warned, don’t light all your candles at once, you will burn out and die. This advice has direct correlation for me; the wealth of treasures in the museum could easily overwhelm you. Your membership allows you to plan your visits thereby, experiencing your growth in incremental and manageable chunks of both time and interest.
